Architect Saba Goerge Shiber (1923-1968) was an early advocate for urban planning in the Arab region. His interest in housing and urban developments led him to get the PhD in “city and regional planning ” from Cornell University (1956).
Architect Shiber had a rich career in many capitals, yet he preferred researching more than professional practice, he lectured and wrote a lot of publications and was a consultant in many urban developments. In 1960s Shiber settled in Kuwait as a chief planner for Kuwait City. His sketches are very inspiring, especially that we lack documentations for many old Arab cities. Attached are some sketches from his book (The Kuwait Urbanization – 1964)
